About Us

China Summer Adventure Group was created in 2006 by two forward thinking American business owners. Their goal was to make China more accessible and enjoyable to westerners. Part of the success in this endeavor has come by helping to develop future minds of tomorrow by providing a fun and effective way to understand foreign cultures. Having traveled widely across the varied terrains and subcultures of this ancient land it soon became apparent to us that Yangshuo, Guilin held all of the necessary qualities to create a world class international Summer Adventure Program for our patrons.

Yangshuo is the perfect mixture of East meets West. It exemplifies the ancient times of Old connecting with a growing new China. Yangshuo provides the perfect atmosphere for that beloved Summer Camp feeling that no other place in China can offer. In fact, it is already a Mecca for affluent Chinese students to spend their summers away from home.

Jay and his Wife

Our camp director Jay Krass is a world traveler and has lived in China for over six years. When we approached Jay to lead our staff we had no doubts that he was the man for the job. Jay has extensively traveled all of China and has a great understanding for the culture. His feelings about traveling and personal growth through experience are unmatched.

Jay is an excellent leader and has a positive outlook on everything. He has taught in some of China’s most elite Universities. From this experience he has developed the necessary skills to educate as well as to entertain.

Jay initially moved to China after participating in a land works project in Costa Rica. He didn’t plan to stay long. After obtaining a grasp for the language and an undying interest for the mysteries of the Culture he decided to make China his home. Jay was married is 2005 to an outstanding Chinese woman , Cheng Minglu, who is a recognized award winning linguist in China.

After visiting Yangshuo in 2003, Jay knew that this was a special place. Jay worked side by side with the locals conducting tours and running his own restaurant. His good relationship with the townspeople and his outgoing nature makes him one of the best people to know in Yangshuo.
